Utility Worker

The Town of Troy is currently hiring a Utility Worker to support daily operations of electric, water, and sanitation services. This position plays a vital role in maintaining our public utilities and ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of our infrastructure. This full-time position includes an opportunity to pursue a Lineman Apprenticeship, with pay based on experience and a strong benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with general maintenance of water, electric, and sanitation systems

• Support trash and recycling pickup operations

• Perform electric and water meter readings (training provided)

• Maintain accurate records of completed tasks and work orders

• Conduct minor repairs and perform preventative maintenance on equipment

• Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training

• Remain available for on-call duty and overtime as needed

• Work in a variety of weather and environmental conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in electric or water distribution preferred, but not required

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• CDL Class B license (or ability to obtain)

• Clean driving record

• Ability to lift heavy items and perform physically demanding tasks

• Strong communication skills and teamwork

• Willingness to learn new skills and grow within the role
