Job Designation
The Supply Chain Manager provides leadership for all procurement, materials planning, and supply chain functions to support plant operations. This position ensures optimal material flow, inventory control, and supplier management while maximizing the Return on Net Assets (RONA). The role includes matrix management responsibilities across production planning, shipping, receiving, and inventory functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement and materials management, including order placement, supplier evaluation, certification, and compliance with government procurement regulations.
  • Lead production planning and maintain 100% on-time customer deliveries.
  • Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring data accuracy and adherence to corporate standards.
  • Implement and utilize corporate systems such as phconnect, PFEP, and S&OP for tracking material flow and planning.
  • Define and implement automated systems to streamline material flow from procurement to delivery.
  • Support corporate purchasing initiatives, such as supplier consolidation and quality certifications.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and implement cost reduction programs.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for the materials team and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Actively implement lean principles and facilitate kanban and materials requirement planning techniques.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or materials management required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or materials management in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications in materials management or quality (e.g., APICS/CPM) preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Expertise in materials management systems, including JIT, MRP II, and supply chain optimization.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate business practices and recommend automation opportunities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including spreadsheets, word processing, and presentations.
