As a Site Director at Head Start Birth-5, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of an assigned center. Under general supervision, you will use independent judgment and decision-making to ensure smooth operations, compliance with regulations, and adherence to program standards. You’ll oversee staff, implement policies, and ensure the center provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the assigned Head Start Birth-5 center, ensuring all activities meet program performance standards and licensing requirements.
  • Exercise independent judgment and decision-making in the supervision of staff and implementation of procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with ACF Head Start Program Performance Standards, State Child Care Licensing regulations, and LHDC Policies and Procedures.
  • Supervise and support staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
  • Monitor center activities and ensure a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and community partners to support the center’s mission and objectives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Management, Human Resources, or a related field required.
  • Associate degree in a related field may be considered if the candidate is willing to pursue further education.
  • Supervisory experience is required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general computer systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adhere to and enforce program policies and regulations.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must meet Head Start and Indiana Child Care Licensing regulations, including:
    • Federal and state criminal history checks.
    • Sex offender registry checks.
    • Drug screening and physical exam.
    • Annual T.B. test.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly Pay: $20.30 to $23.19 per hour.
