As a Site Director with the Head Start Birth-5 program, you will be responsible for managing daily operations of the assigned early childhood center. This includes supervising staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting family-centered services, and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment. The Site Director exercises independent judgment while working under the general supervision of LHDC’s leadership team and plays a key role in shaping a strong educational foundation for young children and families in Perry County.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations of the Head Start Birth-5 Center

Supervise and support staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations

Ensure compliance with ACF Head Start Program Performance Standards, Indiana Child Care Licensing, and LHDC policies

Maintain accurate records and ensure completion of child, family, and program documentation

Monitor safety, quality, and developmental standards in classrooms

Serve as a liaison between families, staff, and community partners

Support ongoing professional development for staff and center improvement efforts
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Resources, Management, or a related field required; Associate Degree may be considered with commitment to further education

Supervisory experience required

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet use

Must meet Head Start and Indiana Child Care Licensing requirements

Must successfully pass background checks, drug screen, physical exam, and annual TB test
