About the Role
The Safety Internship is a hands-on learning opportunity designed for students pursuing a degree in engineering, safety, or a related field. This role focuses on identifying and reducing workplace hazards across the entire manufacturing facility. Interns will work closely with the Safety Department to support assessments, analyze risk data, and assist with improvement projects that enhance employee health and safety.
Key Responsibilities

Assist the Safety Department with scheduling and completing hazard assessments

Lead and participate in meetings with production and maintenance employees to complete assessments

Record and organize hazard assessment data using Microsoft Excel

Analyze assessment data and categorize risks by severity level
-
Support safety improvement projects related to identified hazards

Recalculate assessment totals following project completion

Respond to plant safety projects and opportunities as directed by the Safety Manager

Support maintenance projects and equipment installations

Assist with determining safety device and installation requirements
Qualifications & Education
-
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering, Safety, or a related field

Knowledge of hazard assessments preferred

Minimum of one completed year in a related field preferred

Must be enrolled full-time (12 or more credit hours) for the Fall 2026 semester

Must be 18 years of age or older

Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload independently

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel required)

Experience with AutoCAD and 3D modeling software preferred

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Ability to present information and interact with large groups

Willingness to work flexible schedules
