Police Chief

The Police Chief is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and coordination of the hospital’s law enforcement and security activities. This leadership role ensures compliance with safety protocols, provides guidance to security personnel, and develops policies and procedures to maintain a secure healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in military, law enforcement, or healthcare security and a commitment to community-focused leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise security staff to ensure safety protocols are followed throughout hospital grounds

• Develop, implement, and maintain security policies and procedures in accordance with hospital standards and applicable regulations

• Respond to emergencies, incidents, or disturbances, and provide appropriate leadership and support

• Collaborate with hospital departments to ensure security support aligns with patient care operations

• Participate in training programs, including Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), and ensure team certifications remain up to date

• Maintain accurate records of incidents, patrols, and interventions

• Provide detailed reports to hospital leadership and serve as a liaison with local law enforcement when necessary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences preferred

• Certification in Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) or willingness to obtain as approved by Perry County Memorial Hospital

• Minimum 10 years of general experience in military police or law enforcement, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role preferred

• Equivalent education or experience may be substituted

Mental & Physical Requirements

• Must be able to make decisions under pressure and handle emotional situations appropriately

• Must work effectively in both independent and team settings

• Must be physically capable of lifting/moving over 100 lbs occasionally and performing physical tasks such as kneeling, climbing, and crouching

• Must possess clear vision, hearing, and ability to adjust to fast-paced, high-demand environments
