As an Occupational Health Nurse at Waupaca Foundry in Tell City, IN, you’ll play a pivotal role in our health and safety efforts by delivering direct care, evaluating workplace hazards, and promoting wellness across all departments. Your primary focus will be treating job-related injuries and illnesses, supporting compliance with safety standards, and fostering a healthy work environment during the night shift (approximately 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM). This position is ideal for a licensed nurse who values autonomy, has strong critical thinking skills, and thrives in a team committed to workforce health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site medical care, injury treatment, and referrals for emergency services as needed.

  • Collaborate with Safety and Environmental teams to identify workplace hazards and recommend preventive measures.

  • Lead and facilitate Emergency Response and First Responder programs, including training and readiness.

  • Conduct drug/alcohol testing and coordinate annual health screenings and occupational testing (PFTs, hearing, vitals, etc.).

  • Participate in safety meetings and maintain compliance with OSHA and ISO 45001 standards.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for employees.

  • Assist with case management, Workers’ Compensation coordination, and cost control reporting.

  • Support industrial hygiene programs such as bloodborne pathogen, respiratory protection, and ergonomics.

  • Provide new hire health assessments and orientation on occupational health topics.

  • Monitor and research health data, trends, and regulations to improve workplace safety and wellbeing.

Qualifications
We’re looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Current state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

  • CPR/AED certification.

  • Minimum of intermediate computer proficiency.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to write reports, follow procedures, and respond effectively in emergencies.

  • Experience in occupational health or industrial environments is preferred.
