Medical Assistant

As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for both clinical and administrative duties that support patient care. Working closely under the supervision of the Provider and Practice Manager, you’ll assist with patient intakes, perform clinical tests and procedures, and help maintain accurate records. This position is key to providing excellent patient experiences and supporting the overall mission of Perry County Memorial Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient intakes, including documenting vital signs, medications, allergies, and medical history.

• Conduct waived testing, EKGs, and laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy.

• Assist Providers during patient exams and procedures.

• Maintain accurate and detailed records in compliance with hospital and department standards.

• Provide clerical support, including scheduling, data entry, and secretarial duties.

• Ensure smooth clinic operations through effective communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Licensure/Certification: Current BLS/CPR required. Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.

• Experience: Experience as a phlebotomist or medical assistant preferred but not required.

• Skills & Traits: Strong reasoning ability, quick decision-making, and organizational skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions, work accurately under pressure, and maintain professionalism in all patient interactions.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, and carry up to 25 pounds. Requires prolonged standing, sitting, bending, and manual dexterity. Must have normal (or corrected) vision and hearing.
