Med/Surg Staff RN

As a Med/Surg Staff Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care for patients at Perry County Memorial Hospital. Working the 7p–7a shift, you will assess patient needs, make sound clinical decisions, and collaborate closely with the healthcare team to deliver excellent medical-surgical care. This position is ideal for nurses who thrive in a dynamic environment and are committed to providing patient-centered service.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical patients

• Monitor patient conditions and respond quickly to changes

• Make independent, clinically sound decisions related to patient care

• Administer medications and treatments as ordered

• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately

• Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and families

• Utilize good body mechanics when lifting or transferring patients

• Demonstrate resourcefulness and composure in emergency situations

• Maintain alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail throughout the shift

This position requires physical stamina, including standing, walking, and periods of exertion, while working in varied and sometimes adverse conditions.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Licensure/Certification:

• Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana

• Current BLS/CPR certification required

Experience:

• No prior experience required

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong assessment and decision-making skills

• Ability to remain alert, accurate, and composed under pressure

• Ability to work effectively in emergency situations

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities

• Manual dexterity, mobility, and ability to use proper body mechanics
