About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager (Manufacturing Engineer Lead) is responsible for leading and developing a team of manufacturing engineers within a single manufacturing facility. This role oversees the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
This position plays a critical role in supporting new product development, improving throughput, reducing costs, and optimizing manufacturing systems to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process & Flow

Lead planning and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling

Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful execution

Collaborate with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to improve manufacturing performance

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
Process Improvement & Innovation
-
Identify and implement strategies to drive innovation and continuous improvement
-
Lead site-level process improvement initiatives impacting quality, cost, and efficiency
-
Support and guide cross-functional teams through improvement projects
People Leadership & Development

Mentor, coach, and develop manufacturing engineers

Assign work, provide performance feedback, and ensure proper training

Support engineers with complex technical challenges and new product development
Manufacturing Systems & Capital Planning

Optimize manufacturing systems, metrics, and capacity utilization

Support system upgrades and technology selection
-
Lead capital budgeting efforts and manage capital projects and expenditures

Determine resource allocation and monitor budget controls
Internal & Supplier Collaboration

Communicate with internal teams and Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers to define product specifications and parameters

Partner with Product Engineering, Program Design, Supply Chain, and Operations to deliver manufacturing solutions
Qualifications
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related Engineering field required

5+ years of manufacturing or engineering experience

Advanced degree preferred
-
Advanced technical knowledge to support new product development and complex problem-solving
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-
Strong project management skills
-
Ability to analyze manufacturing process flows to improve quality, cost, and throughput

Experience developing and executing strategic plans

Strong leadership and communication skills

Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web browsers
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Primarily office-based with periodic time on the manufacturing floor

Requires sitting, standing, walking, computer use, and close vision

Must maintain regular attendance and work collaboratively with others
