About the Role
The Geri-Psych Therapist provides therapeutic services to older adult patients experiencing mental health challenges. This position requires strong clinical judgment, independent decision-making, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team to deliver high-quality behavioral health care.
Key Responsibilities

Provide individual therapy services to geriatric patients

Conduct assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing documentation

Make independent clinical decisions related to patient care

Respond effectively in emergency or crisis situations

Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams

Support patient transfers and care activities using proper body mechanics
-
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and licensure requirements
Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in Counseling or Behavioral Science from an accredited graduate school
-
Current licensure as LCSW, LCPC, or LPC
-
Current BLS/CPR certification
-
Must meet all applicable state licensure standards
Experience
-
2–3 years of clinical experience working with older adults preferred

Hospital or nursing home experience strongly preferred
Physical & Mental Requirements

Ability to maintain close attention to detail and exercise sound clinical judgment

Capacity to work independently and manage patient care decisions
-
Physical stamina to perform moderate walking, standing, and occasional lifting

Ability to remain calm, resourceful, and effective in emergency situations
