Floating Assistant Teacher

About the Role

Perry Preschool & Child Care is seeking a caring, dependable, and team-oriented Floating Assistant Teacher to support daily classroom operations across multiple learning environments. This role works collaboratively with Lead Teachers to maintain a safe, engaging, and structured environment for children while helping coordinate breaks, lunches, and planning time for teaching staff.

The Floating Assistant Teacher plays an essential role in supporting classroom continuity and ensuring children receive consistent care throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teachers in the daily operation of classrooms

• Supervise and engage with children in a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate manner

• Support classroom transitions, activities, and routines

• Help organize and cover Lead Teachers’ breaks, lunches, and planning periods

• Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment

• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and reliability across classrooms

• Follow all Perry Preschool & Child Care policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• High school diploma or high school equivalency required

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

• Enjoy working with children and creating a fun, engaging environment

Preferred (but not required):

• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential

• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education
  (Applicants with a CDA or associate degree may be eligible for a higher rate of pay.)

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time position (40 hours per week)

• Monday–Friday schedule

• Hourly pay range: $12.00 – $15.00, based on qualifications and experience
