ER Staff Nurse

About the Role

The ER Staff Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients in emergency situations, utilizing strong clinical judgment, independent decision-making, and teamwork to deliver high-quality, timely care. This role supports patients through urgent and critical conditions while working closely with physicians and the emergency department team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate nursing care in the Emergency Department

• Perform patient assessments and make independent nursing decisions related to care

• Respond effectively in emergency and high-pressure situations

• Monitor patients and interpret ECG rhythm strips

• Assist with patient transfers using proper body mechanics

• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members

• Maintain accurate documentation and follow hospital policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Indiana

• Current BLS/CPR certification

• Competency in ECG rhythm strip interpretation

• ACLS and PALS certification required or must be obtained within one year of hire

Experience

• Emergency nursing experience preferred but not required

Physical & Mental Requirements

• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in emergency situations

• Attention to detail and adaptability in fast-paced environments

• Ability to stand, walk, lift, and assist with patient transfers

• Physical stamina to work extended shifts and respond to urgent patient needs
