About the Role

LHDC Head Start Birth-5 is seeking a dedicated Early Head Start Teacher to provide high-quality early learning experiences for infants and toddlers. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing education services using a research-based curriculum aligned with Head Start Performance Standards.

The Early Head Start Teacher works collaboratively with a Co-Teacher and Classroom Aide to support children’s developmental, behavioral, and sensory needs while fostering a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans for infants and toddlers (ages 6 months to 3 years)

  • Utilize research-based curriculum designated by the Head Start Birth-5 program

  • Collaborate with a Co-Teacher and Classroom Aide to support classroom operations

  • Complete required developmental, behavioral, and sensory screenings within designated timelines

  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with program standards

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

  • Follow Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and LHDC policies and procedures


Qualifications

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential required

  • Training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant/toddler development

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred

  • Experience teaching infants and toddlers preferred

LHDC may provide on-the-job training to assist candidates in obtaining required credentials if needed.


Requirements

  • Must meet all Head Start and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations

  • Compliance with Head Start Standards of Conduct

  • Successful completion of:

    • Federal and state criminal history background checks

    • Sex offender registry checks

    • Drug screening

    • Physical examination and annual TB testing


Schedule

  • Full-time position

  • 35 hours per week
