About the Role
LHDC Head Start Birth-5 is seeking a dedicated Early Head Start Teacher to provide high-quality early learning experiences for infants and toddlers. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing education services using a research-based curriculum aligned with Head Start Performance Standards.
The Early Head Start Teacher works collaboratively with a Co-Teacher and Classroom Aide to support children’s developmental, behavioral, and sensory needs while fostering a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans for infants and toddlers (ages 6 months to 3 years)

Utilize research-based curriculum designated by the Head Start Birth-5 program

Collaborate with a Co-Teacher and Classroom Aide to support classroom operations

Complete required developmental, behavioral, and sensory screenings within designated timelines
-
Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with program standards

Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

Follow Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and LHDC policies and procedures
Qualifications

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential required
-
Training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant/toddler development
-
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
-
Experience teaching infants and toddlers preferred
LHDC may provide on-the-job training to assist candidates in obtaining required credentials if needed.
