Tell City Jr.-Sr. High School is seeking a dependable and motivated Custodian to support the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our school facilities. This day shift position offers a stable work environment and a meaningful opportunity to support students and staff each day.

Applicants must be willing to obtain a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) to qualify for the day shift position. CDL certification may be used to support transportation needs, such as driving activity buses or covering occasional routes.

Position Overview:
The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas throughout the school. This position plays a key role in providing students and staff with a safe, healthy, and well-maintained learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean assigned areas including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and offices

• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste appropriately

• Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue

• Perform minor maintenance duties (e.g., replacing lightbulbs, tightening loose fixtures)

• Set up and tear down for events and school functions as needed

• Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, leaf pickup, or floor waxing

• Follow cleaning schedules and safety procedures as directed by the Head Custodian or administration

• Ensure all areas meet cleanliness and health standards throughout the school day

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Prior custodial or maintenance experience is helpful but not required

• Willingness to work day shift and obtain a CDL if hired

• Ability to work independently and complete tasks efficiently

• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

• Must pass a background check

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and move for extended periods

• Comfortable using cleaning equipment and basic tools
