About the Role
As a Correctional Officer at Branchville Correctional Facility, you will work as part of a professional team in a medium-security facility for adult males. Officers play a critical role in maintaining safety, security, and order while supporting daily programming and operations that promote rehabilitation and re-entry.
This position is ideal for individuals who are dependable, observant, and committed to public service.
A Day in the Life

Monitor housing units, buildings, and grounds to ensure safety and security

Conduct inmate counts and ensure compliance with established procedures
-
Escort incarcerated individuals to meals, medical appointments, work assignments, programs, and recreation

Supervise work details, including facility and grounds maintenance
-
Complete reports related to movements, activities, and rule violations
-
Search housing areas and visitors for unauthorized items
-
Work collaboratively with fellow officers and facility staff
What You’ll Need to Succeed

High school diploma or equivalent (HSE)
-
Must be at least 18 years of age
-
Ability to pass all required drug screenings
-
Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and mandatory or voluntary overtime
-
Strong communication, critical thinking, and observation skills
-
Ability to work effectively with incarcerated individuals in accordance with IDOC standards
-
Successful completion of required training, including personal protection training

Requires extended periods of standing, walking, and constant alertness

Ability to respond quickly in stressful or potentially dangerous situations

Frequent bending, climbing, stooping, pushing, and pulling may be required
