As a Correctional Officer at Branchville Correctional Facility, part of the Indiana Department of Correction, you’ll play a crucial role in upholding public safety and fostering positive re-entry outcomes. You’ll be responsible for the security of the facility and daily supervision of incarcerated individuals. The position operates on a 12-hour shift rotation, with 7 shifts every 2-week pay period (including one weekend), totaling 85.75 hours biweekly.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor incarcerated individuals and facility grounds for safety and compliance.

Escort individuals to meals, medical care, work assignments, and recreation.

Enforce security protocols and conduct routine housing area and visitor searches.

Complete accurate documentation regarding movement, activities, and rule violations.

Respond effectively to potential security threats and maintain order.

Perform security checks and participate in emergency response drills.
Qualifications
We’re looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

High school diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) required.

Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass drug screening.

Capable of working mandatory or voluntary overtime (up to 16 hours/day).

Physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of correctional work.

Ability to effectively communicate and follow safety procedures.

Willingness to complete personal protection and chemical agent training.
-
Law enforcement or veteran experience encouraged but not required.
