As a Correctional Officer at Branchville Correctional Facility, part of the Indiana Department of Correction, you’ll play a crucial role in upholding public safety and fostering positive re-entry outcomes. You’ll be responsible for the security of the facility and daily supervision of incarcerated individuals. The position operates on a 12-hour shift rotation, with 7 shifts every 2-week pay period (including one weekend), totaling 85.75 hours biweekly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor incarcerated individuals and facility grounds for safety and compliance.

  • Escort individuals to meals, medical care, work assignments, and recreation.

  • Enforce security protocols and conduct routine housing area and visitor searches.

  • Complete accurate documentation regarding movement, activities, and rule violations.

  • Respond effectively to potential security threats and maintain order.

  • Perform security checks and participate in emergency response drills.

Qualifications
We’re looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) required.

  • Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass drug screening.

  • Capable of working mandatory or voluntary overtime (up to 16 hours/day).

  • Physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of correctional work.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and follow safety procedures.

  • Willingness to complete personal protection and chemical agent training.

  • Law enforcement or veteran experience encouraged but not required.
