As a Correctional Lieutenant, you will play a vital leadership role in maintaining order, safety, and security at the Branchville Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison for adult males. You’ll supervise assigned staff, provide input on performance and corrective actions, oversee security measures, and ensure daily activities and programs run efficiently. In this position, you may act as shift supervisor in the absence of a Captain.
Key Responsibilities

Lead staff in maintaining security of offenders, buildings, and grounds.

Follow facility policies and emergency preparedness procedures.

Provide feedback to supervisors regarding staff performance and security concerns.

Identify offender treatment needs and support rehabilitation programs.

Direct staff to maintain facility cleanliness and order.

Recruit, train, and develop employees while setting expectations and evaluating performance.

Act as custody supervisor at smaller facilities or shift supervisor as needed.

Ensure safety, compliance, and professionalism across operations.
Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required.

At least three (3) years custody experience in corrections, law enforcement, or military law enforcement.

At least one (1) year as a correctional supervisor or supervisory training in a related field.

Ability to pass all required screenings (drug, background, medical, psychological).

Strong knowledge of correctional practices and procedures.

Excellent communication, delegation, and supervisory skills.

Must be willing to work overtime and travel if needed.

Ability to successfully complete all mandatory training, including DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR.
