Community Journalist

We are looking for a passionate and versatile Community Journalist to join the Perry County News team. This full-time position is perfect for someone who loves storytelling, thrives on deadlines, and wants to make a difference by keeping the community informed. From breaking news and sports coverage to engaging feature stories and photography, you’ll be at the heart of local journalism. Assignments may also include contributions to our sister publications in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Report on community events, local government, and sports.

• Write and edit stories for print and online platforms.

• Capture compelling photographs to accompany articles.

• Conduct interviews and profile notable individuals in the community.

• Work professionally with the public, including processing submitted materials for publication.

• Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in all reporting.

Qualifications

• Journalism education or equivalent experience is preferred; entry-level candidates are welcome.

• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to a flexible schedule.

• Willingness to work some nights and weekends as needed for timely coverage.

• Photography skills are a plus.
