Parker Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled Senior CNC Programmer/Machinist to support its mission of enabling engineering breakthroughs that lead to a better tomorrow. Based in Troy, Indiana, this role is responsible for programming, editing, and setting up complex CNC equipment—including lathes, 5-axis mills, horizontal mills, and mill/turn machines—for aerospace manufacturing. As part of a collaborative, innovation-driven environment, you will work alongside engineering experts to improve efficiency, ensure high-quality machining, and support production excellence. This is a day shift position (Monday–Friday) with flexible start times (5:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m.) and voluntary overtime opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Program 2-axis lathes; 3- and 4-axis horizontal and vertical mills; Mori Seiki 9-axis, 2-spindle mill/turn machines; and Mori Seiki 5-axis mills

  • Write and update instructions, specifications, and technical documentation for machinists

  • Perform mathematical calculations to determine machining paths, stock removal, and tool movements

  • Translate engineering plans into CAD/CAM programs and modify existing programs for improved efficiency

  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machine sequences for various materials

  • Improve setup times, machining processes, and contouring of complex geometries

  • Validate completed programs for accuracy, function, and time savings

  • Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, engineering drawings, materials, and specifications

  • Work directly with scheduling and estimating teams to support lead-time and cost planning

  • Maintain machining quality through measurement, inspection, troubleshooting, and adherence to quality processes

  • Develop fixtures and tooling required for production

  • Lead the machining group as a team lead, providing guidance and problem-solving support

  • Troubleshoot NC programs to maintain continuity of production flow

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology preferred, or equivalent education and experience

  • 4–6 years of experience operating and programming CNC machines

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced understanding of CNC programming principles, language, and machining operations

  • Strong knowledge of NC tooling, materials, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences

  • Ability to apply continuous improvement methods (e.g., process mapping, automation)

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and diagrams

  • Ability to manually program N/C machines

  • Experience with CAM software and standard business applications

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to make independent decisions

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to respond professionally to internal or external inquiries

  • Leadership skills and the ability to support team development and goal achievement

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly

  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and reach for extended periods

  • Perform repetitive hand and finger tasks with precision

  • Wear required PPE throughout the entire shift

Other Requirements:

  • Must meet U.S. export compliance and/or government contracting requirements

  • Must pass drug screening in accordance with company policy
