The CNC Machine Operator 2 plays a critical role in producing high-quality aerospace components through expert CNC machine setup, program adjustments, operation, and preventive maintenance. This position works across vertical and horizontal machining centers while ensuring accuracy, safety, and production efficiency.
You’ll work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to interpret technical documentation, maintain equipment, and support continuous improvement. This is a hands-on role that requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and confidence working in a fast-paced environment.
This is a day-shift position with a Monday–Friday schedule (5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. or 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.), with voluntary overtime available.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Operation & Setup
-
Operate 3-axis vertical mills and horizontal mills
-
Load NC programs, adjust offset tables, replace cutting tools, and conduct First Article Inspections

Verify proper fixturing and tooling per TWID instructions

Read and interpret detailed manufacturing prints, machine drawings, and work instructions

Calibrate and verify measurement equipment
-
Operate material-handling equipment (hoists, cranes, tow motors)
Quality & Documentation

Measure and record QA data including dimensions and serial numbers

Perform in-process inspections and ensure compliance with QA and production requirements

Maintain accurate digital records and ensure traceability of parts

Follow all safety, housekeeping, and 6S standards
Troubleshooting & Collaboration

Diagnose machining issues and adjust parameters as needed

Interact with engineering, supervisors, and outside service technicians to resolve problems

Contribute to workflow improvements and assist with training newer operators

Move materials and track orders to support production flow
Qualifications
Education & Experience
-
High school diploma or GED required
-
Associate degree or equivalent technical training preferred
-
Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience
-
Experience with CNC machine setup and operation preferred
Skills & Abilities
-
Ability to read blueprints, machine drawings, and process specifications
-
Strong understanding of machining fundamentals and tooling
-
Familiarity with Fanuc and Siemens controls
-
Proficient with calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and precision measuring tools

Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, data collection systems)

Ability to prioritize work independently and meet production deadlines

Effective communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Frequent standing, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling

Repetitive use of hands and arms for detailed work

Must wear PPE and work safely in an environment with noise, dust, chips, and heat
