About the Role
LHDC Head Start Birth-5 is seeking a part-time Classroom Aide to provide flexible support throughout the center. This position plays a vital role in ensuring consistent classroom coverage and maintaining a positive, engaging environment for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
The Classroom Aide may assist in classrooms, on the playground, as a Cook, or with custodial duties depending on daily needs and schedules. Work hours and assignments may vary by classroom or center.
Key Responsibilities

Provide support throughout the Head Start Birth-5 Center as needed

Assist teachers in classrooms serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years

Support children during indoor and outdoor play activities

Assist with food service or custodial duties as assigned

Communicate positively and professionally with children and families
-
Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
-
Follow Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and LHDC policies and procedures
Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required
-
Experience with infants, toddlers, and/or preschool children preferred
-
Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and staff
Credential Requirements

Obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within one year of hire

LHDC may provide on-the-job training to assist with credential attainment
Requirements

Must meet all Head Start and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations

Compliance with Head Start Standards of Conduct

Successful completion of:
-
Federal and state criminal history background checks
-
Sex offender registry checks
-
Drug screening
-
Physical examination and annual TB testing
-
Schedule
-
Part-time position

28 hours per week

Schedule varies by classroom or center needs
