Classroom Aide

Join a passionate team committed to early childhood development! The Classroom Aide plays a flexible, supportive role at our Head Start Birth-5 Center in Leopold, Indiana. This 28-hour-per-week position offers a chance to work with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers across classroom, kitchen, custodial, and playground settings. No two days are the same—and your impact is always meaningful.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist teaching staff in classroom activities and child engagement

• Provide coverage across roles including cook and custodial support as needed

• Promote a safe, nurturing, and structured environment

• Interact positively with children and families

• Follow all Head Start, Indiana Childcare Licensing, and CACFP guidelines

• Help maintain clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate spaces

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required

• Experience with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children preferred

• Must obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within 1 year of hire (on-the-job training available)

• Must pass:

  • State and federal criminal background checks

  • Sex offender registry screening

  • Drug screening and physical

  • Annual TB test
