Classroom Aide

As a Classroom Aide, you will work collaboratively with teachers and staff to provide coverage and support throughout the center. Daily responsibilities may vary depending on classroom needs and include assisting in learning environments, providing care for children, and helping maintain a clean and welcoming center.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with daily classroom activities.

• Support children during play, meals, and other routines.

• Provide coverage in various roles, including custodial or kitchen support, when needed.

• Promote positive interactions with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families.

• Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and program policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.

• Experience with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers preferred.

• Must obtain a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) within one year of hire (LHDC may provide on-the-job training to support this).

• Must meet all licensing and program requirements, including:

  • Federal and state background checks

  • Sex offender registry checks

  • Drug screening

  • Physical exam and annual TB test

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $15.00 – $16.63 per hour
