The Assistant Teacher will work alongside the classroom Teacher to plan, organize, and implement educational services that foster academic, social, and emotional growth for Head Start Birth-5 children. This role requires a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices, Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, and CACFP Guidelines. The Assistant Teacher will also support the Conscious Discipline Curriculum to help create a positive, nurturing, and structured classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in planning and implementing daily lesson plans using a research-based curriculum.

Support classroom management and student engagement in alignment with Conscious Discipline practices.

Help maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with Head Start and state requirements.

Provide individualized support to meet the diverse needs of children and families.

Promote safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environments.

Collaborate with Teachers, staff, and families to strengthen student growth and family involvement.
Qualifications

Education/Training:
-
Childhood Development Associate Credential (CDA), or
-
A state-awarded certificate that meets/exceeds CDA requirements, or
-
Enrollment in a program leading to an associate/bachelor’s degree, or
-
Enrollment in a CDA credential program to be completed within one year of hire.

Experience: Previous preschool teaching experience preferred.

Other Requirements: Must meet all Head Start and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations, including federal and state background checks, drug screening, physical exam, and annual T.B. test.
