Mental Health Hike in support of Mental Health Awareness Month (5/16/2026)
Collaboration between Leadership Perry County Class of 2024/2025 and Hiking Perry County
Please join us for a quick and easy hike through one of Perry County’s beautiful forests, enjoying both the outdoors and each others’ company. Promoting the benefits of both physical activity and time outdoors in relation to positive mental health. Both food and drinks will also be provided following the hike.
The hike will take place at German Ridge Recreation area on May 16, 2026 @ 9:00 AM. Hike will be a short two mile hike on the surrounding trail, starting at German Ridge Beach (parking and bathrooms are available at the beach). The hike will be led by Jerry Cottingham.
After the hike:
– Hot dogs, chips, drinks, and snacks will be provided
– The beach will be open for swimming and fishing, we will additionally be providing bait for those fishing
– Other trails are available to hike at your leisure after the group hike
– Bathrooms/changing rooms and a shelter house are also available at the beach

– Bring bug spray for use before starting hike
– Long pants to prevent bugs
