Perry County Applying for COVID Funding to Help Local Businesses
Tell City, Indiana – On Dec. 7, 2020, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs (OCRA) announced a third phase of the COVID-19 Response Program is now open for applications. Funded through the state Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, the program is open to eligible units of local government and is designed to help communities respond to and mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Perry County plans to apply for the maximum award of $250,000 to provide grants to businesses and microenterprises located within the county to retain jobs held by low-to-moderate (LMI) employees. If funding is awarded to the county, businesses will have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $10,000 which can be used to provide working capital, continue operations and/or support remote work.
Phase 3 is a competitive process and applications will be scored based on a multitude of data based and design and development factors including regional collaboration, need and financial impact. Successful proposals will clearly demonstrate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the community and the resulting needs.
In order to strengthen the proposal’s competitiveness, the county is working with the Perry County Development Corporation (PCDC) to compile a list of interested businesses who have been impacted by COVID. Businesses must be located within Perry County and must meet eligibility criteria including providing employee income information. More information about the program can be found here.
