The Social Work Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting mental health and wellness for students, families, and staff within the Head Start Birth-5 program. This position is responsible for addressing social and emotional challenges, promoting a safe and healthy environment, and adhering to program health and safety standards. The role is funded by the Early Years Initiative and requires travel to all Head Start Birth-5 Centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide social services to students, families, and staff to resolve challenges interfering with learning.
  • Support mental health and wellness initiatives for students, families, and staff.
  • Promote a culture of safety in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment in all Head Start Birth-5 Centers.
  • Practice active supervision of students to ensure their safety and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field required.
  • Associate’s degree in a related field with relevant experience may be considered if willing to further education.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, and email usage.
  • Must meet all Head Start and Indiana Child Care Licensing Regulations, including:
    • Head Start Standards of Conduct.
    • Federal and state criminal history requirements.
    • Sex offender registry checks.
    • Drug screening.
    • Physical exam and annual TB test.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly Pay: $20.30 to $23.19 per hour.
