As a Safety and Environmental Intern, you will work closely with our team to plan, direct, and implement safety programs that promote a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. This internship offers hands-on experience in regulatory compliance, industrial safety, and environmental practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform independent instrument calibration in the field.
- Actively support all environmental, safety, and health programs, advocating for safe work practices.
- Assist in maintaining regulatory records and documentation for IDEM, SHA, and OSHA compliance.
Other Requirements:
- Display professionalism and a courteous attitude towards coworkers and the public.
- Be willing to work overtime in the field during the internship period (May to August).
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and company policies.
- Exhibit a strong desire to learn and grow in safety and environmental practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Candidates with experience in Industrial Hygiene are preferred.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and analyze complex documents, respond effectively to sensitive inquiries, and prepare professional presentations and articles.
- Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in probability, statistical inference, and applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, analyze data, and draw valid conclusions in technical scenarios.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment:
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, toxic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Noise levels are typically moderate but may vary based on the worksite.
