Paramedic

As a Paramedic at Perry County Memorial Hospital, you will deliver high-quality emergency medical care in a fast-paced, always-changing environment. This part-time position offers flexibility across all shifts and is ideal for individuals who perform well under pressure, think critically, and are committed to providing life-saving care to the community. You will respond to emergency situations, assess patient needs, and make timely, independent decisions to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide advanced life support

• Assess patient conditions and make informed decisions about treatment

• Administer medications and interventions based on established protocols

• Safely lift, move, and transport patients using proper body mechanics

• Operate emergency medical equipment and maintain readiness for use

• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, nurses, physicians, and other first responders

• Document patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately

• Maintain composure and resourcefulness in high-stress and adverse conditions

• Participate in training, preceptorship, and ongoing skill development

A minimum 80-hour preceptorship program is provided, though additional time may be required depending on skill development.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Completion of an accredited paramedic program

Licensure/Certification:

• Certified Paramedic in the State of Indiana

• National Registry Paramedic (NRP) required

• Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification required

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Experience:

• Experience preferred, but not required

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong decision-making skills during emergency situations

• Ability to recognize symptoms quickly and respond appropriately

• Physical stamina for lifting, transferring, and working in adverse conditions

• Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under pressure

• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills
