Metallurgist

About the Role

As a Metallurgist at Waupaca Foundry, you will play a critical role in ensuring the metallurgical integrity and quality of our products. You will work closely with leadership and production teams to support operational goals, enforce safety standards, and drive continual improvement across metallurgical processes. This position offers hands-on involvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment with strong opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary resource for all metallurgical issues and processes within the facility

• Ensure metallurgical quality of all products and manage metallurgical hold issues

• Communicate management goals and objectives clearly to the workforce

• Enforce company safety policies and procedures

• Develop and maintain strong working knowledge of production equipment and processes

• Collaborate across departments and shifts to support production and quality objectives

• Conduct team meetings and deliver presentations as needed

• Promote company values, ethical standards, and respectful workplace culture

• Develop working knowledge of ISO/TS standards

• Maintain mobility across departments, shifts, and plant areas

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Science or Materials Science

• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (written and verbal)

• Ability to develop advanced knowledge of production machinery and equipment

• Willingness to gain exposure to all production operations and administrative functions

• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including:

  • Conflict resolution

  • Team collaboration

  • Policy adherence

  • Ethical and fair treatment of employees

• Positive attitude, dependability, and respect for diverse teams

• Willingness to work across departments and shifts as needed
