About the Role

The Industrial Engineering Internship offers hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, focusing on process optimization and continuous improvement. Interns will work alongside engineering and operations teams to analyze workflows, gather and interpret data, and support implementation of efficiency improvements across the plant. This role is ideal for students pursuing industrial engineering or related fields who want real-world exposure to lean manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze current production and operational processes to identify inefficiencies

  • Utilize continuous improvement tools such as time studies, value stream mapping, and process flowcharting

  • Recommend and support implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices

  • Collect and analyze data related to cycle times, production rates, downtime, and defects

  • Use tools such as Excel, Minitab, or similar software to interpret data and support decision-making

  • Assist in designing or improving factory floor layouts

  • Use CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) to visualize layouts and material flow

  • Observe work processes to establish standard task times

  • Document workflows and recommend process improvements

  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Departmental Work Instructions (DWIs)

Qualifications & Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field

  • Minimum of one completed year in a related field preferred

  • Enrolled in post-high school education for the Fall 2026 semester

  • Must be considered a full-time student (12 or more credit hours)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
