EMT – B

As an EMT-B at Perry County Memorial Hospital, you will play a vital role in responding to emergency calls, assessing patients, and delivering high-quality basic life support services. This part-time position offers flexible scheduling across all shifts and is ideal for individuals who excel under pressure, are dedicated to patient care, and want to grow their skills within a supportive EMS team. You will work closely with paramedics, nurses, and other first responders to ensure timely, effective care.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Respond to emergency calls and provide basic life support (BLS) services

• Assess patient conditions and determine appropriate treatment strategies

• Assist paramedics and medical staff with emergency care and transport

• Safely lift, move, and transfer patients using proper body mechanics

• Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment

• Document assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately and promptly

• Communicate clearly with dispatchers, hospital staff, and fellow EMS personnel

• Stay prepared for emergency situations and remain calm under pressure

• Complete a minimum 80-hour preceptorship program (or longer if needed)

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Completion of an accredited EMT program

• Ongoing education may be required to maintain compliance with state certification requirements

Licensure/Certification:

• Current Emergency Medical Technician certification in the State of Indiana

• Current BLS Healthcare CPR certification

• Must maintain active licensure and submit renewals for personnel records

Experience:

• Experience preferred, but not required

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong judgment and alertness during emergency situations

• Ability to make independent patient-care decisions when needed

• Physical stamina to work in demanding and adverse conditions

• Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients or equipment safely

• Resourcefulness, calmness under pressure, and commitment to patient care
