Correctional Caseworker

As a Correctional Caseworker with the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC), you will support Branchville Correctional Facility’s mission to promote public safety and prepare incarcerated individuals for successful re-entry. Branchville is a medium-security facility for adult males, offering opportunities for vocational training and rehabilitation. In this role, you will coordinate case management services, facilitate access to programs, and help individuals build the skills needed to return to their communities with stability and purpose. The starting salary for this position is $42,900, with the potential for adjustment based on experience or education.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Provide guidance to offenders regarding job assignments, housing changes, transfers, and facility procedures

• Serve as a liaison with employers, courts, community partners, and agencies to support job development and release planning

• Assess risk and needs using the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS)

• Collaborate with facility staff on re-entry and release-related issues

• Prepare case notes, progress reports, and documentation for programs and temporary absences

• Coordinate with classification staff to make appropriate offender classification recommendations

• Conduct unit orientation for newly received offenders

• Maintain quality assurance by following all re-entry policies and audit requirements

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE)

• At least one year of experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field

  • Education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis

• Ability to obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System Certification within 90 days of hire

• Must pass all required drug screenings

• Ability to complete mandatory DOC training, including First Aid and CPR

• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
