The Perry County Museum presents Edelweiss – Remembering Woodstock and the 60s. It’s a night of peace, love and rock n’ roll along with good food and live music all for a good cause – The Perry County Museum. The 2019 milestone marks the 50th anniversary of Woodstock and we thought this was a great way to honor that history and have a good time as well!
The Edelweiss Ball is the Museum’s biggest fundraising event of the year and a major contributing factor in the operation and ongoing maintenance of the facility – the former Perry County Courthouse in Cannelton. This annual event is set for Saturday, August 3 at the Schergens Center in Tell City.
Once a regular part of the Schweizer Fest, the Edelweiss galas were discontinued in the 1960s, but returned five years ago as a fundraising event for Perry County’s local history museum.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and there will be a cash bar. A catered meal will be served at 7 p.m. with menu options announced soon.
Keeping in the spirit of the 60s, people are encouraged (but not required) to dress up for this era in history. “We would like to see those attending dress up in their favorite bell bottoms, tie-dyed shirts or other 60’s era clothing. But that’s all optional. We want people to have fun and wear whatever they’re comfortable in,” according to Brandi Hess, event chairman.
Dancing and socializing will continue after dinner until 10 p.m. and 60’s music will fill the event space all evening long.
Tickets are $50 per person and include meal and dance. For tickets, go online at www.perrycountymuseum.org/about/events/ or contact Hess at 812-549-5954 or Danny Bolin at 812-719-1874, any museum board member.
