Information and answers about how to prepare beehives for the winter will be given at the Perry County Beekeepers October meeting on October 17th at 6:00 PM in the FFA Building at Perry Central School.
Bill Gibson will lead discussion on winterizing hives, discussing whether beekeepers should insulate, how to insulate, and what materials to insulate with. He will also discuss how to make sure mite treatment worked, and putting supers away for the winter.
Charlie Cunningham will demonstrate how he winterizes his hives and stores his supers.
All beekeepers and prospective beekeepers are invited to attend. We always enjoy chatting about bees after the end of the official meeting, so please bring a snack to share.
This meeting is free and open to the public.
