Training
An experienced regional labor force is available in Perry County from which your company can draw. The work ethic amongst these people is shaped by generations of craftsmanship, innovation and old-fashioned sweat.
Perry County is committed to the continuous enhancement of existing skill sets. This dedication fueled an initiative between business and governmental leaders to form the Perry County Learning Partnership (PCLP). This group, formed in 2002, has set forth a mission of designing and implementing continuous educational opportunities for Perry County residents.
As our nation's businesses evolve to keep pace with changing technological advancements, employees find themselves challenged with an ever-evolving skill set. With a thorough evaluation of the face of those changing workplace needs, the PCLP has identified the key strengths necessary for employment. These strengths include reading and comprehension, basic math abilities, communication skills as well as customer service skills. Also addressed is a basic understanding of quality and safety issues
Based on these skill-sets, a certification program is being developed that will make available courses focusing on these strengths for existing and/or potential employees. The courses and testing process will be conducted locally, providing for easy and equitable access for all individuals interested in pursuing certification.
With the implementation of this certification program, employees will offer enhanced skills to businesses, while the certification itself will offer businesses an avenue for insuring its employee base is able to meet the challenges of employment. For more information on this program, contact the Perry County Development Corporation at chris@pickperry.com.
Other avenues and incentives available for training your workforce include:

- Ivy Tech State College
Both existing training programs and customized training programs are offered at the Tell City campus, which is part of the statewide vocational education system
